Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Editor will acquire and manage a list of approximately 8-12 books a year, which may also include reprint editions and select imports, along with a list of middle grade and young adult fiction the Editor acquires.

All candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain agent and industry relationships.
- Read and evaluate submissions, develop editorial and market vision.
- Keep abreast of market, read widely, have proactive publishing ideas.
- Prepare acquisitions proposals and champion projects.
- Run P&Ls, draft deal memos and offers.
- Negotiate contract terms.
- Oversee manuscripts and art through editorial, design, and production processes.
- Maintain author and illustrator relationships and communication.
- Draft copy and present titles in and out of house.
- Attend industry events and travel for conferences.
- Minimum of 5 years in children’s book publishing, preferably with YA and MG focus; experience and interest in fantasy and graphic novel editing preferred.
- Strong developmental, structural, and line editing skills
- Ability to handle multiple schedules, meeting deadlines, with organizational and project management skills.
