Summary – Training & Development Specialty Position Instructors are responsible for the implementation of initial and ongoing development of new and current staff, maximizing efficiency & accuracy, while ensuring 100% understanding of positional and corporate requirements. In event of an absence, position will be filled by trained personnel.
Hours: 5PM-1:30AM Monday - Friday 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
  • Key point of contact for inner-departmental new hires and new hire training.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • A background in safety is required. 
  • Preferred certification include lock out/tag out, machine guarding, chemical handling, walking/working surfaces and OSHA 30
  • SSH certification will replace associates degree 
  • Responsible for enforcing departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Is committed to training and practices resulting in a measurable positive impact to department efficiencies and profitability.
  • Works closely with assigned department(s) (FSQ, Safety, Maintenance, or Packout Packaging/Line Technician); enforcing Training & Development policies, procedures, and programs to achieve or exceed department and corporate goals.  
  • Provides ongoing feedback to Training & Development and department Supervisors regarding the progress of new staff.
  • Establishes and retains a Coach/Mentor mentality with new hires, exhibiting an ongoing positive attitude.
  • Is committed to the success of the new hires and to the success of the department overall.
  • Works in unison with counter associates, to achieve department and corporate goals.
 
Level 1 
  • 1-2 years of Lead, Assistant Supervisor or Leadership experience                                       
  • 1-2 years of “training/teaching” experience or equivalent combination of education/work experience required.   
  • This person should have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task, ambitious, and have a teacher and mentor mentality. 
Level 2 
  • 3-4 years of Lead, Assistant Supervisor or Leadership experience              
  • 3-4 years of “training/teaching” experience or equivalent combination of education/work experience required.   
  • A technical trainer for multiple Departments that has not only the Procedural knowledge of numerous Departments, but actual experience training staff in different areas. 
  • This person should have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task, ambitious, and have a teacher and mentor mentality. 
Level 3 
  • 5 years of Lead, Assistant Supervisor or Leadership experience              
  • 5 years of “training/teaching” experience or equivalent combination of education/work experience required.   
  • This person should have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task, ambitious, and have a teacher and mentor mentality. 
 
Positional accountabilities 
  • Departmental point of contact and liaison between new hires, Training & Development and Supervisors.
  • Is vested in the success of the Blount training program, offering ongoing feedback and program recommendation to optimize effectiveness.
  • Works closely with Training & Development Coordinator to achieve or exceed department and corporate goals.
  • Ability through training and appropriate time in the position; to run, adjust, breakdown and reassemble job specific processing equipment.  Ability to effectively train others on these skills.
    • Be subject matter expert regarding operating processing equipment in addition to processing tasks and utilize this knowledge to effectively train employees.
  • Understand implications of “down time” and inefficient processing.
    • Understand how to react to such matters, to minimize downtime incurred.
    • Contribute in proactive approach to address future downtime obstructions.
    • Offer recommendations and solutions to such matters.
 
Responsibilities for Food Safety  
  • Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
  • 100% adherence and enforcement of all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all Food and Corporate Safety policies.
  • Must adhere to and enforce all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
  • Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.
  • If monitoring CCPs (Critical Control Points), must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s).
 
 
Education and/or Experience
  • 2-3 years of Lead, Assistant Supervisor or Leadership experience. 
  • 2-3 years of Technician Experience on machines used within or outside of Manufacturing, with a proven record of how to ensure equipment reaches and maintains optimum output.                           
  • 1-2 years of “training/teaching” experience or equivalent combination of education/work experience required.

Language Skills
  • Level II: the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally in English as it pertains to individual position.  
 
Mathematical Skills                                                   
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
Reasoning Ability                                                       
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, and oral. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
Computer Skills                                                           
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Processing software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 
Other Skills and Abilities                                                         
  • Bi-lingual preferred, but not required.
