The Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station provides residential and commercial recycling, solid waste disposal, and hazardous waste management service to the Tri-Cities community. Our facility is open to all members of the public as a one-stop location to recycle unwanted items, disposal services for non-recyclable waste, and for the safe management of common household hazardous waste.
The Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station is owned and operated by BLT Enterprises. As developer, owner, and operator of Material Recovery Facilities and Transfer Stations throughout California, BLT's team has processed and/or recycled more than 11,000 tons of waste per day in Los Angeles, Burbank, Fremont, Oxnard, and Sacramento.

ABOUT THE JOB
This position is primarily responsible for operating a variety of vehicles including a transfer station truck, roll-off truck, and a sweeper truck within the facility to ensure efficient transportation and disposal of materials. Responsibilities include safely operating these trucks for waste collection, transportation, and facility upkeep. This role requires ensuring that all vehicles are maintained in good working conditions, performing routine inspections, and following all safety and operational protocols to maintain a clean and organized facility environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily inspections of vehicles, equipment, and supplies, and notify management of maintenance needs by completing inspection forms.
- Safely and efficiently move trailers throughout the facility, including positioning them in the loading pit area for loading.
- Hook and unhook trailers as required.
- Communicate with the dispatcher when trucks are positioned in the loading tunnel.
- Collaborate with the loader operator to ensure material is packed below the rim of the trailer.
- Collect debris around the facility by operating a sweeper truck in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Class C California Driver’s License.
- High School Diploma or GED required; basic math, reading, writing, and English communication skills. Must be able to read and understand facility safety signs and warnings.
- Ability to follow established methods and instructions, with occasional variations handled through standard processes or referred to others. Works under close supervision with minimal task variety.
- Assigned specific tasks with clear instructions and limited autonomy. Any deviations from instructions require prior authorization. Decisions impact only on the employee’s own work.
- The work environment may involve exposure to typical facility conditions. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Successful completion of a drug screening.
- Proof of valid employment authorization required.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members across the company.
SAFETY
While performing job duties, the employee may be frequently exposed to odors from waste and recycling materials, as well as airborne particles. The work environment typically has a loud noise level, and the employee will also be regularly exposed to various outside weather conditions.
This position requires company-provided safety equipment, and any additional personal protective equipment deemed necessary by the company to ensure a safe work environment. This may include a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, uniform, safety vest, and safety boots. You must wear any other PPE provided by the company.
