What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cloud FinOps Specialist position at Blu Omega?
This work is remote but candidates within driving distance to Bethesda, MD are preferred.
Candidates must be eligible for a Public Trust level background check as a precondition of employment.
We are searching for a Cloud FinOps Specialist to support our product development and customer experience teams. This role will require the specialist to combine analytical skills with an understanding of IT operations practices to ensure that these applications collect and present the information that the team and cloud users need to make the most out of the cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the client who manages all of the financial and billing-related aspects of the Initiative.
- Become an expert in the processes and serve as a deputy to the client, support development and review of reporting, while coordinating with project staff to ensure customer inquiries are addressed and cloud usage is optimized.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience on a team delivering complex IT projects in operations, support, client services, or customer relations
- FinOps certified practitioner or professional with experience using cloud FinOps tools for analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with and understanding of cloud services usage and pricing; AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
- Ability to bridge finance and technology
- Experience in information technology, as a business/data analyst and in supporting dashboards and reporting
- Experience with analyzing spend trends, forecasting, opportunities for savings, and offer advisory services with specific improvement recommendations for cloud services
- Work with distributed teams and influence strategy, tactics, and execution of cloud usage.
- Strong understanding of cloud requirements, ability to partner cross-organizationally and drive cost optimization discussions.
