As a Data Scientist with Blu Omega, you will provide full-spectrum analytic and technical support to mission operations and the intelligence lifecycle. Your role will involve collecting and refining requirements, translating user needs into technical specifications, configuring analytic environments, conducting exploratory data analysis, developing and evaluating models, and effectively communicating insights to non-technical audiences.
In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will identify relevant and permissible data sources, access available infrastructure, and develop analytic products tailored to mission user requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively working with technical colleagues and building rapport with customers. Your analytic products should clearly distill trends, highlight patterns, and provide actionable insights in an accessible format.
A fully adjudicated TS/SCI clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced analytics and data visualization methodologies, models, and tools to drive intelligence outcomes and impacts.
- Design and deliver infographics across multiple media platforms to enhance data comprehension.
- Identify, process, and analyze raw data, trends, and assessments, leveraging analytic and visualization tools to aggregate disparate information.
- Utilize knowledge of databases and methodologies to determine appropriate sources, identify indicators and relationships, and generate intelligence support packages.
- Communicate findings effectively to innovation stakeholders through meetings, demos, and customer engagements.
- Support analytic innovation, development, and data analytics activities for customers and stakeholders.
- Brief customers on assessments and prepare briefings based on finished analysis, including daily updates for senior policy and operational decision-makers.
- Develop and refine machine learning models with a focus on accuracy and performance.
- Draft technical methodologies, participate in architectural reviews, and document processes to facilitate knowledge sharing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4-6 years of experience in computer science, data science, or data analytics.
- Proficiency in Python and its libraries for data cleaning, exploratory data analysis (EDA), statistical analysis, and data visualization.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and related technologies (e.g., Jira).
- Experience with data analytics and data science, data visualization, Python, R Studio, GitLab, and Jupyter.
- Clearance: Fully adjudicated TS/SCI clearance is required.
- Location: On-site (3-4 days per week) in downtown Washington, D.C.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) and intelligence lifecycle.
- Experience working with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- Willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
