Facilities Maintenance

Blue Bell Creameries has three plants of which manufacture ice cream. We currently have opportunities in Facilities Maintenance to join our Sylacauga, AL location. The candidates should have great attention to detail, work in a team setting, and enjoy the challenges that a dynamic food manufacturing facility has to offer.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform preventative maintenance on plant production equipment, as well as troubleshooting, repairing of equipment and machinery while adhering to all safety rules and regulations. Also, be responsible for performing a combination of tasks including repairing and maintaining pumps, motors, heat exchangers and other mechanical equipment. Be able to work a 45-hour work week. Be willing to work some Saturdays and Holidays. Must be able to work with and learn from others in a team environment. Some work in the cold storage areas will also be required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Automation Technician (Full Time)

• Electrical Knowledge :
• AC/DC - single phase & three phase power
• Ability to troubleshoot Relay & PLC Logic Control Systems: including analog and digital input/output devices
• Compliance of all NEC Electrical Code Standards
• Ability to utilize electrical measurement devices – multi-voltage meters
• Ability to read and comprehend electrical diagrams
• Ability to running conduit and pull wiring
• Safety – lockout/tag-out, confined space, and PPE
• Basic Mechanical Knowledge:
• Ability to operate industrial equipment: forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.
• Ability to use basic hand tools: saws, grinders, drills, threading machine, pneumatic tools
• Understanding of mechanical components: bearings, seals, shafts, bushings, etc.

Refrigeration Service (HVACR) Technician (Full Time)

• Electronically, mechanically, and objectively diagnose and repair all refrigeration equipment according to company job plan
• Maintain a satisfactory inventory level of necessary parts at all times
• Test all equipment in a timely; efficient manner and communicate any equipment deviations that presents any risk to company quality targets
• Complete any ongoing training to maintain OSHA compliance and HVACR certification

General Technician (Full Time)

• General mechanical knowledge of conveyor systems, pump and valve assemblies, product-fill and packaging equipment, and HVAC components
• Understanding of mechanical power transfer components and assemblies
• Basic industrial electrical knowledge
• Ability to work on both pneumatic and medium pressure hydraulic systems
• Ability or willing to learn to operate industrial material handling equipment
• Ability to use basic hand tools
• Basic fabrication skills (welding knowledge and use of cutting torch not required, but would be a plus)
• Safety – lockout/tag-out, confined space, and PPE.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years' maintenance experience and/or training is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude is required, basic math skills are preferred and must know how to read a tape measure.
• Some basic lubrication / electrical / mechanical / preventive maintenance experience is a plus.
• Shop tool skills and knowledge such as: Drill press / Bandsaw / Bead Blaster / Hand tools / Shop welding equipment are a plus.
