Executive Director of Engineering

Position Purpose: The Executive Director of Engineering provides leadership and supervision of the engineering workforce at Blue Canyon, and holds responsibility to generate and maintain company-wide engineering processes and tools.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $325,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

• Functional manager over the Engineering disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Thermal Systems Engineering, GN&C Engineering, RF Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Harness products.
• Participate in major program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), in accordance with BCT command media.
• Support financial reviews, including program EACs and LREs, cashflow status, AOP and LRP generation, indirect labor and non-labor budgets, from the perspective of Engineering effectivity towards financial goals.
• Support business development efforts, providing engineering function, proposal generation and review support, and pricing input for engineering areas.
• Provide technical risk assessments that account for BCT reputation, cost, and schedule.
• Work closely with the BCT Chief Engineer to guide engineering technical direction; assuring engineering execution aligns with BCT strategic goals.
• Engage with customers as needed on technical topics (FRB, NCR, risk assessments, etc.).
• Provide and present BCT engineering capabilities briefings, including workforce description, tools and processes descriptions.
• Establish and maintain BCT company-wide engineering processes and tools, in alignment with company product line plans and financial goals.
• Provide input to technical roadmaps for all product lines.
• Assess and update staffing needs for Engineering; work with HR to maintain the correct size engineering workforce.
• Establish and execute training, mentoring, and task assignments that develop and maintain the appropriate skill/experience levels of the engineering workforce.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education:

• 15 years of experience as a Manager or Director of engineering departments
• Experience and knowledge in at least one engineering discipline
• Master’s degree or higher preferred, in Aerospace, Engineering, System, or Computer science discipline
• Strong systems engineering and technical management skills and demonstrated ability to execute demanding flight programs
• Must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with emphasis in rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance
• Related technical experience maybe considered in lieu of education

  Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
