Description
- Work as assigned with each AR and AP clerk to gain an understanding of each individuals’ roles and responsibilities
- Assist in codifying roles and responsibilities in the AR and AP departments with the goal to update existing process documents while undergoing training
- Use knowledge gained through training and process documentation to offer coverage for employee PTO in the AR and AP departments
- Perform regular cash reconciliations to verify that cash receipt and withdrawal data matches bank reports
- Assure timely collection of customer invoices
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies with customers and vendors
- Assist in maintaining accurate accounting records in both digital and physical formats
- Review information gathered on prospective customers to submit suggestions for appropriate trade credit limits to be offered
- Build and provide reports reflecting real time status of customer and vendor accounts as needed
- Verify cash deposits and disbursements are posted and applied to appropriate invoices
- Make recommendations to improve quality of customer invoicing, cash collection, vendor payment, and record keeping procedures
- Provide key reports and communication to various departments within the company
- Assist with month and year end close processes such as posting accrual journal entries and reconciling balance sheet account balances
- Assist with annual audit tasks as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience in roles related to AR, AP, and general ledger accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Experience with 3rd party customer portals and EDI operations preferred
- High level of proficiency working with vendors and customers in a professional manner
- Experience processing payroll is preferred
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Self-driven and proven ability to take ownership for results
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office products including Word and advanced Excel functions
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
