1 : 2755 - Battery Thermal Engineer (Tustin CA)
THIS IS WHAT YOU LL DO:
- Battery Thermal Analyst will perform 3D battery pack modeling activities using STAR-CCM .
- Lead analytical modeling efforts to identify gaps in ESS designs causing potential failure to meet requirements.
- Battery electrical and thermal architecture modeling for next generation systems including:
- Perform 3D battery cell, module and pack modelling.
- Lead modeling efforts to identify the technical benefits and drawbacks of current battery design and future concepts, including identification of technology gaps.
- Partner with ESS Validation team and DRE team to develop test plans for model correlation and design validation, support pre- and post- test analyses.
THIS IS WHAT YOU LL NEED:
- Minimum B.S. in engineering with 7 years applicable experience, or M.S. in engineering with 5 years experience, or Ph.D. in engineering with 3 years experience.
- Solid experience using STAR-CCM .
- Strong oral and written communication for cross functional team engagement, presentation to leadership, and project management.
- Excellent understanding of first principal analysis and implementation.
- Reasonable understanding of battery system architectures, system controls, and electrical circuit analysis.
- Experience with CATIA, experience with model building from CAD data
- Excellent understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, thermodynamics, and energy conversion.
- Experience with automotive powertrain requirements, load cases, and standards.
- Experience working with cross functional team and vehicle team developing battery architecture and integrating products in vehicles.
2: 2756 - Battery Structural Engineer (Tustin CA)
- Battery Structural Analyst will perform durability analysis of vehicle structures using finite element tools including Optistruct, Abaqus, and Hyperview/META.
- Use LS-Dyna to analyze CAD data and perform battery system and component crash analysis.
- Cooperate with design engineers and suppliers to collect material properties and connection information.
- Post process and report CAE results to design engineers and suggest feasible design changes for design optimization.
- Use analysis results to determine component or material performance requirements and design boundaries.
- Use analyses to guide physical test plans for validation.
- Lead the development of processes and strategies for robust analysis, optimization and delivery of battery systems.
THIS IS WHAT YOU LL NEED:
- Minimum BS with 7 years, MS with 5 years or PhD with 3 years in mechanical engineering or similar field.
- Experience in Optistruct, Abaqus, Hyperview/META, and LS-Dyna, with application to automotive structures.
- Strong academic background in solid mechanics, materials, and structural analysis.
- Experience with CATIA, experience with FEA model building from CAD data.
- Design and development of component and sub-system tests.
- Experience of preparing formal reports summarizing analysis results.
- Knowledge of material properties associated with automotive structures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A strong understanding of the first-principal physics of automotive body structures and energy management.
- Knowledge of automotive design, development processes, and system requirements.
