We are seeking a detail-oriented Supply Chain Buyer / Material Planner to manage procurement, material planning, and logistics for defense programs. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, supplier management, and inventory control within a highly regulated industry. This role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Procure materials and components in compliance with FAR, DFARS, and government regulations
- Develop and manage material planning strategies to support production schedules
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effective purchasing
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams to optimize supply chain flow
- Analyze inventory levels and adjust procurement strategies to minimize shortages or excess stock
- Support contract negotiations and supplier agreements
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting for compliance and audit requirements
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to track orders, deliveries, and inventory levels
- Identify and implement cost-saving and process-improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
- 5 years in procurement, material planning, or supply chain management
- Experience in a defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industry preferred
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Background Requirements:
- Must pass a background check, employment verification, and substance testing
- Employment contingent on obtaining/maintaining security clearance if required
