The Information Systems Specialist is responsible to identify, research, develop, coordinate, test, approve, communicate and document any activities or projects that affect the operation of the Advance Insurance Company of Kansas (AICK) application. The position represents the department and serves as coordinator and liaison between AICK and Information Services (IS) and any other corporate users.

What you’ll do
- Administer system corrections and modifications put into production and notify system users. Includes new releases to Facets, BluesEnroll and eBilling systems.
- Recommend and develop user stories for enhancements or modifications to the system. Complete the testing, implementation, and training with AICK and IS staff.
- Make decisions regarding system issues that have a broad impact on the department and organization.
- Prepare training materials and manuals and trains end users for the systems supported by this position.
- Facilitate and utilize the appropriate Agile/Scrum, Kanban, or Waterfall reporting process to manage and support the technical, operational, and functional requirement of the business area and IS.
- Participate in the development of new AICK products as they would affect the system. Responsible for determining how the new products should be set up on the system to ensure the desired reporting results for all AICK systems.
- Responsible for setting up client records, agent records, billing tolerance levels, rate tables, reinsurance pointers, commission tables, benefit ID’s, and reduction tables.
- Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly electronic transmissions received from an outside vendor and imported into the Facets system.
- Participates in the research, evaluation, recommendation, selection, and implementation of any software/hardware that AICK considers purchasing.
- Responsible for the end user security access to the AICK systems and serves as the DCA by submitting UAM requisitions. Monitor security register for security violations and unauthorized usage and access to all AICK systems.
- Research and understand changes in policies and new products to be able to automate changes and procedures.
What you need
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Familiarity with life insurance rules and regulations preferred.
- Must be able to write and gather business requirements and be capable of developing test scenarios, testing system changes and implementing enhancements.
- Capable of interpreting new or modified products and/or benefit designs and translating them and/or assigning a benefit plan.
- Requires a high degree of analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze, problem solve, make decisions and present facts in a logical manner that may or may not be documented by established procedures.
- Requires an understanding of the Agile method of software development and project management after training.
- Work must be performed with a high degree of accuracy to ensure other employees can effectively serve the customer.
- Ability to work independently to meet critical deadlines.
- Must have the proven ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of internal management to resolve problems, interpret information and/or advise.
- Ability to effectively eliminate barriers and collaborate with others.
- Expected to maintain a low number of unscheduled absences. Must have a proven record of ability to report to work as scheduled.
Education and Experience
- Completion of high school diploma is required. Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on Business Administration preferred.
- Experience using the principles of system testing, how to thoroughly test a system when changes occur to include setting up tests cases, ensuring extreme values are tested in all cases and verifying the results of both valid and invalid input.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
- Must use keyboards and mouse up to 100% of the day in a stationary position.
