The User Experience (UX) Designer partners with the customer experience team to apply UX, visual and product development expertise to improve the accessibility, aesthetics, and functionality of the customer experience (CX) team’s work. They will partner with internal and external colleagues to research customer experience journeys and help tell the human-centric stories that inspire CX culture. They will champion the outside-in mindset of human-centered design and assist in the facilitation of cross-divisional work to further CX initiatives. This position is ultimately responsible for the visual design, development, and implementation of customer experience products to ensure designs achieve the highest level of usability, accessibility, SEO, desirability, and customer satisfaction.

What you’ll do
- Collaborative Design: Serve as a key partner for the customer experience team, applying a human-centered design approach to devise solutions that elevate customer interaction. Responsible for designing and implementing outstanding user experiences (i.e., usability, functionality, visual design) for digital products and websites.
- Research and Insights: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to map customer experience journeys, ensuring you capture the nuances of user needs and pain points.
- Storytelling: Craft compelling human-centric narratives that inspire CX culture, demonstrating the importance of customer-centric thinking within our organization.
- Prototyping: Create wireframes/prototypes to plot website layouts, hierarchy, features and UX
- Ensure all digital assets adhere to brand standards, project and technical guidelines.
- Front-End Web Development Support: Assist with CSS styling, work with CMS and development tools, help build and deploy UI features, act as a liaison between designers and developers, support responsive web apps using NodeJS and React.js, and assist in identifying and fixing bugs for stability and scalability.
- Performance Metrics: Employ best practices in SEO, customer satisfaction methodologies, and usability testing to gauge the effectiveness of designs and drive iterative improvements.
- Web Development Knowledge and Learning: Maintain a basic understanding of web. development languages, tools, and techniques, stay current with emerging technologies and trends, and learn new programming languages and frameworks as needed to assist with development tasks.
What you need
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent digital and visual design skills with the ability to effectively translate concepts into clear, impactful designs.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Invision, or similar.
- Demonstrates the ability to process and apply UX design research – usability studies, reports, trends, ethnography, user personas and related information – into design solutions and deliverables.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to share design concepts and research findings.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers.
- Knowledge of responsive and mobile-first design principles.
- Familiarity with front-end development languages (HTML/CSS) and how they impact user experiences is preferred but not required.
- Other desired technologies:
- Knowledge of various content management systems (e.g.: WordPress, Drupal)
- Understanding of WCAG 2.1 for accessibility
- Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g.: AWS, Azure)
- Experience working with RESTful APIs
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred in User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX), Interaction Design, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Strategic Communication or related field.
- In lieu of degree, minimum 3 years of experience as a UX designer or similar role.
- Portfolio that demonstrates UX expertise as well as design and development expertise.
