POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the operation, update, and maintenance of the Commission System to facilitate accurate and timely commission and sales incentive payments. Responsible for the researching and documenting discrepancies between contractual commission and sales incentive agreement and actual Commission system calculations for resolution. This position is responsible for analyzing and reporting on commission and sales incentive information to various departments within the organization

Necessary Contacts: In order to effectively fulfill this position, the incumbent must be in contact with:

Various internal departments and staff (employees of all levels) including but not limited to Sales and Marketing, Finance, Legal, Government Business, Internal Audit, IT ERP Financial, Compliance, Payroll, and Actuarial.

External contacts include producers, consultants, contractors, other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, etc.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Human Resources or related field required
  • Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience

  • 4 years of related experience with EIM Systems, Commission Incentive Systems, or Payroll Systems required
  • Experience in the insurance field preferred

Skills And Abilities

  • Analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience interpreting data, and performing root cause analysis.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks under considerable time constraints and shifting priorities while ensuring accuracy.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and Access is required. SQL experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and critical financial information.
  • Minimal travel is required. Travel will generally involve over-night stays for periods of one to two nights.

Accountabilities And Essential Functions

  • Daily operation and maintenance of the Commission System to include commission and sales incentive processing across all product lines including commercial and Medicare for both internal and external producers.
  • Provides troubleshooting of complex issues/questions from producers and various internal personnel regarding commission system design and/or calculation.
  • Develops future system enhancement opportunities, including drafting business requirement documents and test scenarios.
  • Provides presentations and reports that communicate analyses and recommendations to various levels of management to assist in fact-based strategic decision making.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders: vendors, brokers, Regional Sales Directors, regional office employees and key Association leaders that will provide a constant knowledge of market issues.
  • Responds to all audit requests in a timely manner
