The Application Development division develops, implements, and supports information technology solutions that are either internally developed or purchased from a third party vendor. These applications and systems provide solutions to corporate data processing and information needs. The incumbent manages the efforts of direct reports, providing analysis and project management direction, and reviews the applications and systems developed to ensure they meet requirements of the organization. The incumbent works closely with managers and associates throughout the corporation in order to facilitate understanding of their information system needs.
The Quality Management Office (QMO) provides quality and testing services in support of Information Technology (IT) efforts that service all divisions of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama as well as external entities including customers and providers.
The Quality Assurance Analyst III position is an advanced Quality Management Office (QMO) position. The incumbent plans, organizes, coordinates, launches and schedules testing, quality assurance (QA), quality control and governance for IT efforts, in support of corporate vision, mission, critical issues, tactics, goals and objectives. The incumbent works closely with IT and business associates at all levels across the organization, to mitigate risk and ensure that new or modified applications, systems and IT solutions function according to business and IT requirements and conform to established guidelines, procedures, and adherence to compliance. This includes business, security and performance measurements to ensure accuracy and availability.
The incumbent defines and manages the testing scope, plan, execution, validation, and issue resolution for complex, medium risk, enterprise level IT projects and programs. The incumbent is responsible for writing and executing functional, performance, regression and stress/load test cases, identifying and logging discrepancies, ensuring traceability of test cases to requirements, producing QA reports, preparing and reporting metrics, validation, issue resolution and coordination.
The incumbent assists with developing, implementing and documenting QA and testing methodologies, processes and standards.
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of quality assurance (QA) experience; or 3 years of quality assurance (QA) and testing related experience
- Obtain the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certification and ISTQB Certified Test Analyst Advanced Level certification through an accredited American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) delegate within 12 months of hiring
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with quality assurance (QA) and testing best practices, tools, models, principles, techniques, environments, systems and standards, and how they relate to business risk and strategies, are critical to effectively provide services to the organization
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with Information Technology tools, architectures, applications, data structure, processes, operating systems, software and hardware, for various platforms that include mainframe, web and distributed efforts
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with system development lifecycle, project management, quality and testing methodologies
- Knowledge of Total View/CRM application highly preferred
- Proficient understanding of business processes, goals, and applications, to effectively support quality assurance (QA) and testing efforts pre and post implementation
- Advanced experience with software development concepts and practices developing queries and scripts, and utilizing various software and hardware solutions necessary for quality and testing efforts and reporting
- Advanced data management skills including the experience collecting data from multiple sources, mask, encrypt, consolidate, manipulate, analyze and report using large data sets.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of established release management processes and policies in support of release integration testing, completeness, consistency and production validation
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products
- Experience solving complex problems and think logically and analytically
- Experience working well under pressure on multiple projects in a fast paced, complex, dynamic environment and set priorities, execute tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and experience communicating ideas in both technical and user-friendly language with all levels of technical and business associates
- Excellent presentation skills, including experience creating presentations, and effectively facilitating and presenting to varying audiences
- Experience handling day to day decisions without guidance, including initiating action without prompting and work independently when required
- Experience recognizing and escalating major issues appropriately
- Strong organizational, multitasking and prioritization skills
- Working knowledge and experience in qTest preferred
- Working knowledge and experience with test automation in Tricentis TOSCA preferred
- Working knowledge and experience with test automation in Selenium-Java preferred
- ISTQB Certified Test Analyst Advanced Level certification through an accredited American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) preferred
- ISTQB Certified Test Manager Advanced Level certification or the ISTQB Agile Certification through an accredited American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) preferred
- Current or prior experience with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama work flow and processes is strongly preferred
