POSITION PURPOSE
This individual is responsible for partnering with the Foundation President and appropriate Program Officers to establish and then leading the execution of the strategy, framework and projects for media and digital communications for both the LA Blue Foundation & LA Blue Community Relations. This includes managing Foundation assets/channels, webpage, overseeing coordination of all media and communication projects alongside other efforts. The communications & special projects consultant will: Support CSR goals, sales, marketing and reputation management by turning cultural, customer and industry trends into actionable campaigns related to CSR initiatives. Drive the customer experience within the nonprofit partnerships sector by leveraging analytics and research. Develop a best-in-class integrated communications plan for the activities of the Community Relations department and the BCBSLA Foundation, directly managing communications activities that promote, enhance and protect the reputation of the charitable work conducted by both entities. Build partnerships, consensus, and C-Suite buy-in to key strategic decisions through communications, both internal and external, data and business cases to otherwise communicate the impact of community partnerships work. This work will be strategic in nature, looking at the long-term needs of both the state and the organization and designing efforts to help meet those ends. The day to day work will be project-based and will involve multi-tasking, supporting ad-hoc task forces, and working closely with external partners and internal staff in support of the Foundation board, corporate sponsorships, non-profit engagement and organizational communications and outreach efforts. Under the direction of the President of the BCBSLA Foundation/ Head of Community Relations, the Communications & Special Projects Consultant will serve as the lead on all communications coming from Community Relations/ Foundation efforts, determining key aims from functional leaders and then designing/ executing those efforts. The role will also serve as high-level coordination and support for Special Projects of both Community Relations and the Foundation – events such as the Angel Award, partner convenings, major sponsored events and other efforts that require high-level leadership and coordination. This role will communicate with and serve as the key point of contact between the Foundation/ Community Relations and Strategic Communications, and unless otherwise noted will serve as the senior deputy overseeing the efforts noted above. Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

- Necessary Contacts: In order to effectively fill this position, the incumbent must be in contact with all departments at all levels of BCBSLA; market research consultants, data research resources, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, all Blue plans, Sales and marketing regional offices, state and federal regulatory agencies, industry associations, local and national media, nonprofit agency partners and business leaders, state and local officials and their office personnel, company coordinators, outside vendors, the Board of Directors of the company and the BCBSLA Foundation and the Blue Cross Association
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, or related field required
- Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years of experience in communications, marketing and/or strategic planning required
- Experience in the health insurance field preferred
- Previous experience in a leadership role and as a leader in nonprofit management preferred
- Management experience preferred
- Experience with HTML and basic coding, content management systems are a must
- Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources including primary and secondary, qualitative and quantitative.
- A background in customer experience is preferred, with a demonstrated history of turning customer insights into effective strategy or campaigns.
- Asks questions and challenges assumptions to understand the fundamentals of any situation.
- Can build the logic for new business and product opportunities supported with data and assumptions that have internal and market support.
- Able to organize information and create frameworks to identify trends and communicate complex information in a simple way.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.
- Can understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners.

- Insight and Strategy:
- Build, develop and implement comprehensive strategies, concepts and integrated plans (pitch decks) that deliver against objectives/strategies to meet or exceed desired metrics such as KPIs, ROIs, etc.
- Lead internal teams (and clients, when necessary) in identifying campaign goals, objectives, KPIs and ROIs, and institute tracking measures throughout the campaign for post-program reporting.
- Proactively analyze market trends through qualitative and quantitative research to develop insights into the consumer connection with brands in the digital space.
- Apply insights leading to strategic directions, including defining the metrics to measure success.
- Craft well-articulated plans and points of view, including comprehensive pitch decks that include clear insights, strategies and creative concepts in a thoughtful, compelling and cohesive storyline.
- Weave insights into the strategies that inspire the creative team to develop award-winning programs across multi-disciplinary platforms and tactics.
- Collaborate with internal teams during activations to ensure approved concepts and strategies are executed with consistency and premium quality.
- Content and Development:
- Plan, write, edit, test and improve content including interface language, education materials, program names, navigational nomenclature, information architecture and other content throughout the Foundation’s digital experiences and properties.
- Ensure content is optimized for both search and user experience for all channels and devices.
- Establish workflows for requesting, creating, editing, publishing and retiring content utilizing our existing content management system.
