What you will do:
- Provide visionary leadership to establish and grow machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science functions, ensuring performance management, employee development, and a high-performing culture.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and execution roadmaps to advance the team's capabilities from reactive reporting to proactive analytics and data science.
- Operationalize, measure, and manage ML/AI algorithms, ensuring high system reliability and sustainability.
- Scale and optimize machine learning processes throughout the project lifecycle, including feature engineering, model training, production deployment, monitoring, and retraining for continuous delivery.
- Design and build adaptive learning systems that respond to changes in patient/member preferences using advanced machine learning and statistical techniques.
- Identify opportunities for advanced analytics to automate processes, support knowledge discovery, streamline business operations, and enable new capabilities.
- Provide thought leadership to enable ML/AI applications and deliver innovative products and services to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed on cutting-edge AI/ML technologies and their potential applications and ROI for implementation.
- Lead efforts to work with internal and external customers, providing expert advice on best use and interpretation of information, as well as limitations.
- Allocate human and financial resources effectively to achieve departmental objectives. Strong understanding of FinOps principles as it relates to the curation of analytic models and data structures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A combination of education and related experience
- Ten or more years of health data analysis, business analysis, software application, database design, and technical documentation experience, preferably in the health insurance industry
- Seven or more years of management experience; or experience leading a team
- Understanding of analytic tools, spreadsheet, and database software and other application development tools
- Knowledge of general mathematical principals
- Ability to collaborate while dealing with complex situations
- Ability to think creatively and to drive innovation
- Ability to motivate, lead and inspire a diverse group to a common goal/solution with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives and measurable results
- Ability to develop and manage a budget
