Major Responsibilities
- Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations for select accounts
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts and investigate and correct any discrepancies or errors.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for budget/actual discrepancies.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Perform account analysis and ensure the accuracy of accruals and prepayments.
- Collaborate with the team to complete financial audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Assists in the preparation of tax returns
- Assists in ensuring compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Create and update accounting procedures and recommend modifications as necessary.
- Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.
- Responds to inquiries from the COO, Controller and other department managers regarding financial results, ad-hoc requests, etc.
- Works both independently and collaboratively with special projects and workflow process improvements as needed.
- Reconcile Bank Accounts and research discrepancies and chargebacks.
- Review accounts payable batches before payment processing.
- Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
- Complete monthly sales tax reconciliation.
- Support team regarding periodic inventory counts and audits.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with concentration in accounting
Previous Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience with Excel (including Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, etc.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in using accounting software.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
- Must have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret documents; organize and analyze data is necessary.
- Knowledge of multi-state sales tax and Avalara software.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
