Shady Cove Marina and Resort, a premier campground and marina located on the scenic shores of Old Hickory Lake in Castalian Springs, TN, is seeking a skilled and dependable Full-Time Maintenance and Repair Technician. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities, including RV campsites, marina docks, rental boats, seasonal restaurant, tiki bar, swimming pool, shower house, and general grounds. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience in general maintenance, mechanical repairs, and a passion for keeping our resort in top condition for guests and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facility Maintenance
   • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of resort facilities, including RV hookups (electrical, water, sewer), docks, pavilions, playground, and swimming pool area.
   • Conduct repairs on plumbing systems (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains in the shower house), electrical systems (e.g., troubleshooting RV site power issues), and structural components (e.g., repairing decks or railings).
   • Maintain and service the resort’s LP gas system, ensuring safe operation and refilling as needed.
2. Marina and Equipment Repairs
   • Inspect, maintain, and repair marina equipment, including boat ramps, fuel pumps, and wet slips.
   • Perform basic mechanical repairs on rental boats (e.g., outboard motors, hull maintenance) and ensure they are in safe, operational condition for guests.
   • Assist with docking and undocking boats as needed, ensuring proper mooring and security.
3. Groundskeeping
   • Maintain the resort grounds by mowing lawns, trimming vegetation, and removing debris around campsites, marina, and common areas.
   • Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the dump station, shower house, laundry facilities, and pool area.
   • Assist with seasonal upkeep, such as winterizing facilities or preparing for peak summer use.
4. Preventive Maintenance
   • Execute a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment and facilities to minimize downtime and costly repairs.
   • Monitor pool chemicals and equipment to maintain water quality and safety standards.
   • Check and maintain fire safety equipment, including extinguishers and smoke detectors.
5. Guest and Staff Support
   • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests (e.g., RV site issues) and staff (e.g., restaurant or tiki bar equipment malfunctions).
   • Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns efficiently and professionally.
   • Assist with setup and breakdown of events held at the pavilion or other resort areas.
6. Safety and Compliance
   • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during repairs and maintenance tasks.
   • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to marina operations, campground safety, and environmental standards.
   • Report hazardous conditions or equipment failures to the supervisor immediately.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, mechanical repairs, or a related field. Experience with marina equipment, RV systems, or recreational facilities is a plus.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Familiarity with small engine repair (e.g., boat motors, lawnmowers).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and structural issues.
  • Basic knowledge of pool maintenance and water treatment (preferred).
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in outdoor conditions (heat, humidity, rain).
  • Comfortable working near water and on boats/docks.
  • Must be a proficient swimmer
• Certifications: Valid driver’s license required. Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or marine mechanics are a plus but not mandatory.
• Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Work Schedule

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
• Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call shifts during peak season (spring/summer).
• Typical hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with flexibility based on resort needs.
