Role Overview:
The Product Data Analyst plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the product database, ensuring the Sales team and other key stakeholders have accurate and up-to-date information to drive sales and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Merchandizing, Marketing, Pricing, and Vendor Representatives, to create and maintain product data, cross-references, and detailed product attributes. This role is vital in supporting efforts to scale and manage high SKU count and ensure the accuracy and usability of the product catalog.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Database Management:
- Maintain and update a high-volume product database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all product-related information (e.g., descriptions, specifications, pricing, images, and cross-references).
- Cross-Referencing & Product Research:
- Conduct in-depth product research to create and maintain cross-references between related products, ensuring our catalog supports efficient sales and ordering processes. Collaborate with vendors to confirm product details and identify opportunities for expansion or product updates.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, Pricing, and Vendor Representatives to understand product needs, identify gaps, and resolve any discrepancies in product data. Ensure all product-related information is aligned across teams and available for use in sales materials, presentations, and customer-facing platforms.
- Sales Enablement Support:
- Provide the Sales team with essential product information to assist in their sales efforts. Create and maintain easy-to-use data tools and systems that enhance product discovery, help increase revenue, and drive market share growth.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline product data management processes, improve data quality, and reduce inefficiencies. Help implement best practices for data governance and standardization across the organization.
- Product Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the complete product lifecycle from onboarding new products into the database to retiring outdated products. Ensure that product information is continuously updated to reflect the latest product specifications, pricing, and availability.
- Data Quality Assurance:
- Regularly audit the database to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Resolve data issues and discrepancies in a timely manner, and ensure data is presented clearly and consistently across various platforms.
- Reporting & Analytics:
- Generate reports to assess product performance and sales trends, working with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure product data aligns with market needs and customer preferences.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in product data management, product information, or a similar role within a wholesale, distribution, or retail environment (experience with a high SKU count is a plus).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong understanding of database management and product information systems (e.g., ERP systems, PIM, etc.). Experience with Excel, Google Sheets, or other data management tools is essential. Experience with product cataloging software or platforms (like NetSuite, SAP, or similar) is highly preferred.
- Attention to Detail:
- Exceptional organizational and data management skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to manage large datasets while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Ability to work effectively with different departments such as Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Merchandising, and Vendor Relations to ensure smooth data flow and alignment with business goals.
- Problem-Solving:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex product data issues.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly present data findings, product insights, and actionable recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
