Who Are We?
Blue Jay Academy is a private school for children with special needs and disabilities from grades K through 12. Serving Volusia County special needs students, Blue Jay Academy is a progressive school for children who struggle with any type of disability or special need. We work with children that have various special needs, including ADHD, Autism and Processing Deficits.
At Blue Jay Academy we provide a high-quality, friendly and caring environment with therapy in order to increase the academic and behavioral abilities of our students. Our dedicated, child centered program is the most important factor in providing the best services and education to our students.
Blue Jay Academy takes a child centered approach with the whole family. Working with our families provides a continuance from the school day to the home, which helps ensure steady progress in all of our students. We work with Halifax Behavioural Center, the Domestic Abuse Council, DCF, and Community Partnership for Children. In addition, we have partnered with the UCF CARD agency in order to provide our families with continuing resources in our community.
Our faculty and staff consists of well-qualified, highly trained teachers whom also specialize in crisis management and are dedicated to making Blue Jay Academy your top private school for special needs children. Because our school is unique in the fact that we accept children with various special needs and disabilities; including those with Autism, ADHD and Processing Deficits. What You'll Do:
- Guiding Classroom Operations: Take the lead in shaping the overall learning experience.
- Building Meaningful Connections: Forge strong relationships with both children and their families.
- Fostering a Positive Environment: Create a consistently positive, clean, and nurturing space for the children under your care.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Age: Be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Certification & Education: Bachelors Degree in Education - Special Education, Elementary, or Early Childhood.
- Experience: 1 year in a licensed childcare facility for children with special needs or in special education.
- Training Requirements:
- Possess CPR and First Aid certification.
- Pass a Background Check.
- Shift: Ability to work 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday.
