The Sales and Operations Manager plays a valuable role with our ongoing market development and one of significant importance as the company continues to acquire market share. Our ideal candidate is capable performing in a fast paced, growth oriented and dynamic environment, is receptive to feedback, and able to execute responsibilities within a defined franchise model. The Sales and Operations Manager will oversee daily operational activities of the company while managing responsibilities to drive new business and oversee new projects.
Our preferred candidate will have a sharp business mind and a work history demonstrating growing management responsibilities and self-starting activities. The candidate should be highly skilled in personnel management, budgeting/expense management, and maintain some level of prior experience within the restoration, customer service, logistics, transportation, moving/storage, warehousing or distribution industries. The candidate should also be able to clearly demonstrate an ability to tightly manage and ultimate improve our operational efficiency in the contents, cleaning, warehouse and delivery departments through their management contributions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assume growing general management responsibilities over time and as applicable with demonstrated competencies while maintaining an ongoing/close working relationship with the Owner/General Manager about shifting company priorities and projects
- Lead company sales efforts to develop and capture new project opportunities
- Management, supervision, and communications regarding field operations and work crews at customer properties impacted by water, fire, and mold events
- Manage communications with and overall job management of work crews, customers, adjusters, and contractors
- Be an active contributor in the packing, carrying, inventorying of damaged personal property from job sites. Packing and moving duties can include full house pack-outs, inventorying through Blue Kangaroo Packoutz systems, tracking, document management, and may continue through processing, production, and inventorying/storage activities at Blue Kangaroo facilities. Oversee the inventory, pack-out, cleaning, vaulting, wrapping, staging, and pack-back of documents/merchandise as part of the company’s operational processes
- Create, review, and follow-up with customer estimates, billings, and general customer requirements and concerns
- Obtain and maintain relevant certifications and educational training specific to the restoration work completed by Blue Kangaroo Packoutz. The Sales and Operations Manager will be expected to attend franchise training off site (Ann Arbor, MI) along with completion of associated pre-requisite training
- Through collaboration with the Owner/General Manager, develop, execute, and evaluate strategic long-term planning to create initiatives that further the company’s overall objectives. The Sales and Operations Manager is expected to develop and contribute their own expertise in the identification of opportunities (both internal and external) to help grow the business and improve the company’s overall financial performance
- Under the direction of the Owner/General Manager, help identify and onboard potential new hires, provide input on promotions, establish work schedules, manage time and attendance, provide training including cross-training, assign, direct, and review work of field personnel, write and deliver performance reviews and address performance issues through corrective action processes for operations staff
- Assure all operations are fully staffed with trained personnel. Manage staffing levels/schedules according to volume/priorities/holidays, etc.
- Participate, lead, and manage out of market pack-out opportunities (ie, national CAT events and/or large scale restoration projects). These opportunities will be sporadic, executed on a case by case basis, and may involve reasonable amounts of time outside of the company’s primary market in the Charlotte metro.
Note: Specific objectives and performance standards for associated responsibilities will be re-evaluated on an on-going basis through collaboration with the company’s Owner/General Manager. Generally, our ideal candidate is an individual with strong industry contact, existing understandings of the restoration industry, and abilities to support a wide range of sales, administrative and operational requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history
· Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the restoration, customer service, logistics, transportation, moving/storage, insurance, warehousing or distribution industries with a supervisory role position
· Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficient in IICRC standards. Demonstrated ability in planning and managing multiple projects along with problem analysis and resolution. Strong decision making and negotiating skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Knowledgeable in Word, Excel and basic computer operating systems. Ability to perform consistently in a dynamic and growth oriented environment with changing priorities. Some level of proficiency with Spanish is also a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES
The Sales and Operations Manager will fill a salaried, full time position. Total compensation includes base salary and tiered bonus for reaching achievable growth targets based on our operational history. Some overtime will be required and will be expected from time to time, but hours will be flexible, approximately 40 per week, and generally within a 9-5, Monday-Friday schedule.
Approximately 50% of scheduled work shift will be in the warehouse or field environment and 50% in an office environment or actively supporting sales and marketing activity off site. In the warehouse environment or on job assignments, the candidate will frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, push and pull heavy objects, reach above shoulder level and lifts up to 50 lbs. on occasion. In the office environment, the candidate should be able to manage a normal amount of sitting or standing, maintain average mobility to move around an office environment, and able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
