What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Engineer position at BLUE LAGOON CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION?
Summary:
We are searching for a chief engineer with excellent leadership abilities to oversee the condominium's multiple projects and perform maintenance checks, supervising the inspection of all mechanical sections of the buildings and common areas. The Chief Engineer's responsibilities will include assigning tasks to maintenance technicians, setting long and short-term project goals, negotiating with vendors, ensuring that projects stay within time and budgetary restraints, and compiling reports for the board of directors.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising every phase of the projects from start to completion.
- Supervises, recognizes, and provides an explanation and possible solution of problems in all maintenance building areas as may be mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or aesthetics.
- Calculating costs, material, labor, and time required for each project.
- Creating enhancement and/or needed designs.
- Supervising maintenance staff
- Monitors the functions of service contractors and building repair and maintenance contractors for the community.
- Performing quality control checks on all systems.
- Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment while performing all responsibilities.
- Works with the Community Association Manager to create and execute the Hurricane Preparedness Plan for the property.
- Responds to emergencies in the building as needed and is on-call 24/7.
- Communicates effectively with the Community Association Manager on all matters of importance regarding items under the employee’s responsibility, as well as any issues that may arise outside of the Chief Engineer’s responsibilities, but which may affect the operations of the Association.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (Master's degree preferable).
- At least 4 years of experience leading or supervising a team.
- A sound understanding of engineering principles.
- The ability to maintain a positive attitude and restore morale to a team.
- The ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to process negative feedback and remain professional.
- The ability to work onsite and in the office.
