Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Veterinary Assistant at Blue Lake Animal Hospital. The Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for, including but not limited to : assisting with wellness visits, veterinary diagnostic testing, client education, anesthesiology, and opening and closing duties, and ensuring the overall well-being of animals under our care.

Blue Lake Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant to join our busy, fast-paced suburban West Michigan practice. We are a private, family-owned practice with three Doctors that services small animal pets of all kinds—dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, and exotic patients. We are a rapidly growing practice with excellent client rapport that seeks to have the very best medical practices to care for our patients. Our staff is not only experienced and professional but works hard to bring the family feel when interacting with each other and with the clients and patients we serve.
We highly value a positive work environment and encourage a healthy work / life balance. Because of this, we are open Monday through Friday, so that you get to enjoy your weekends. However due to our reproductive services, Veterinary Assistants and Technicians rotate weekends to cover potential c-sections. We have several emergency hospitals nearby that we partner with for after-hours emergency care. Pay scale depends on licensing status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Animal Care and Pet Care skills
- Veterinary diagnostic experience preferred, not manditory
- Client Education experience preferred, not mandatory
- Anesthesiology knowledge preferred, not mandatory
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is a plus
