Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to join our team at BLS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining high-quality documentation that supports our products and services, ensuring clarity and accessibility for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities:
· Document Creation: Develop user manuals, operational guides, installation procedures, service manuals, assembly procedures and training materials for internal and external audiences.
· SOP Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts to write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and service processes.
· Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed product specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to support production and service teams.
· Content Maintenance: Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in products or processes.
· Collaboration: Work with engineering, production, and customer care teams to gather and understand technical information for documentation.
· Visual Aids: Create and integrate diagrams, charts, and visuals to enhance understanding of technical content.
· Training Support: Develop training materials and support onboarding for technical and non-technical team members.
· Proposals: Compose and edit content for customer proposals to position our company to win.
· Quality Assurance: Review and edit content developed by other team members to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
Qualifications:
· Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably within the technology, security or law enforcement sectors.
· Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with desktop publishing tools, content management systems, and graphic design software.
· Analytical Skills: Ability to understand and interpret complex technical information and translate it into clear, concise documentation.
· Attention to Detail: Strong proofreading and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and quality.
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Manufacturing Experience: Understanding of quality and compliance standards in manufacturing.
