What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Blue Loon Bakery?
The Blue Loon Bakery is a community-focused scratch bakery making artisan breads, pastries, cakes and sandwiches. We are looking for a highly motivated person to add to our small, upbeat and dedicated team in the back of house as a full-time assistant baker. We want someone who is reliable, flexible and team-oriented. We are looking for someone who has a good attitude and is willing to do whatever needs to be done to support the team. Professional baking experience is required, but we will provide additional training and support where needed. Ideal hours are 8 am - 4 pm, with Saturdays and Sundays required. Ideal for anyone with past restaurant experience, someone looking to rejoin the workforce, or those looking to grow their baking expertise. All employees share in tip pool (usually $3-$5 an hour over the hourly wage).
Primary Responsibilities
o Assist with baking preparations, to include mixing and shaping breads and bagels; baking scones, muffins and cookies; mixing and shaping croissants; baking and finishing desserts, etc., in accordance with bakery standards.
o Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
o Assist kitchen manager with preparing and baking other bakery items as needed.
o Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
o Check in vendor orders and stock them on shelves.
Qualifications
- Ability to work weekends is required.
- Team spirit and an interest in being part of a community.
- Willingness to do what it takes to help the team accomplish daily tasks.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen personnel.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds walking up/down stairs.
- Ability to work in a standing position for an entire shift (up to 7 hours).
- SERVSAFE Certification is a plus.
