Entry Level IT Admin Support and Web Developer

Blue Marble Geographics is looking to add an entry level IT Admin and Web Developer to assist and grow our existing in-house Technology team. This is an opportunity to work within a dynamic, team-oriented Maine software company. Successful candidates will interact effectively with others and work to meet group and organizational goals. They will also need to be technically competent and able to think and work independently (with the support of some great mentors). Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Blue Marble employees with hardware and software issues
  • Writing SQL scripts to query existing databases for information
  • Creating and maintaining relational and spatial database systems
  • Web page development and maintenance with WordPress, PHP, MySQL, and HTML
  • Managing internal and external security and back-up systems
  • Assist the sales and marketing team to improve SEO and support content management systems
  • Hardware setup not limited to servers, networks, security systems
  • Maintain and update Cloud based resources using Microsoft Azure technologies
  • Learning about the GIS development world and grow with us

The position will report directly to our current Web Developer/IT Manager. Training will be provided as necessary. A good candidate will have solid web development experience and the aptitude to learn the IT administrative tasks, a great upbeat attitude and good communication skills.

General Requirements

Required familiarity with web development with PHP, MySQL, and HTML. Experience with Windows servers and systems and WordPress. A knowledge of modern Cyber-Security technologies and techniques, along with experience managing servers, troubleshooting IT issues, supporting internal staff and other technical support work in some combination is required. Experience with Linux administration or any online content management systems is a plus. Some travel may be required.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher required. Computer Information, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics areas preferred, but other technical degrees considered.
