Founded in 1977, Blue Mountain Clinic (BMC) has been a trusted provider of compassionate, patient-centered reproductive and primary healthcare in western Montana for nearly five decades. As one of the first abortion clinics in the nation, BMC has remained at the forefront of reproductive justice, serving patients from across the state and neighboring regions—especially in the wake of the Dobbs decision. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based healthcare and to fiercely protecting bodily autonomy, access, and dignity for all people.
Position Summary
Blue Mountain Clinic is seeking a passionate and highly organized Community Organizer to build, manage, and grow a strong volunteer network and grassroots base of support for the clinic. This role is pivotal in cultivating meaningful community relationships, engaging supporters in reproductive justice work, and mobilizing public support through events, advocacy, and outreach campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship-builder, deeply committed to reproductive rights, and energized by engaging people in direct action and support of BMC’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination (50%)
- Recruit, train, and manage a diverse team of volunteers for clinic, event, and advocacy support
- Maintain volunteer database, schedule shifts, track engagement and outcomes
- Develop and facilitate ongoing volunteer onboarding, training sessions, and appreciation activities
- Match volunteer interests and skills with appropriate opportunities (clinic support, fundraising, events, communications, etc.)
- Serve as primary point of contact for all volunteers and ensure a positive, inclusive experience
Field Organizing & Outreach (50%)
- Develop and execute grassroots strategies to increase public awareness and community support
- Coordinate and attend local outreach events, tabling opportunities, rallies, and speaking engagements
- Build and maintain relationships with students, allies, partner organizations, and advocacy groups
- Support implementation of statewide mail and digital campaigns by coordinating in-person canvassing, distribution of materials, and follow-up
- Track field metrics, generate reports, and evaluate campaign success
Qualifications
- Deep commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice
- 1–3 years’ experience in volunteer management, organizing, or community engagement
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Comfort with public speaking and community outreach
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel locally
- Skills in database management and social media a plus
- Spanish or Indigenous language skills a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- $40,000.00 - $55,000.00
