Adoption & Customer Service Specialist
The main duties of an Adoption & Customer Service specialist are to provide excellent customer experience for clients seeking services from the Blue Mountain Humane Society. In this role you will greet and assist the public and prospective adoptive families when they are visiting the facility, answer questions about adoptable animals and try to find a pet that suits the needs of the family in a polite, positive and professional manner.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for greeting and welcoming guests.
- Responsible for answering calls, responding to frequently asked questions such as hours, directions, volunteer questions etc.
- Responsible for responding to all incoming emails in a timely manner.
- Answer calls from the public and provide information needed for inquiries related to home trials, adoptions, pet surrenders, lost/found reports, pet reclaims, adoptable animal behaviors, dog licensing.
- Responsible for handling payments via check, cash, credit cards, following processes to ensure accurate opening and closing out of daily cash drawer.
- Responsible for capturing, editing and uploading quality adoptable animal photos into the shelter management system and creating compelling, accurate, written adoptable pet profiles.
- Responsible for reviewing and processing adoption applications to determine eligibility for approval.
- Pet introductions when necessary.
- Responsible for accurate person and animal records in shelter management system.
- Processing adoptions and explaining adoption paperwork and post adoption practices.
- Responsible for completing and following up with lost/found reports.
- Process reclaims, quote owners with fees and capture accurate owner information and Identification.
- Process dog licenses and verification of rabies vaccines.
- Schedule surrender call appointments
- Follow intake procedures when strays are brought by the public
- Walk dogs when needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Customer service experience.
- Must demonstrate ability to read, write and speak clearly in English verbally and in written form.
- Must be detail oriented, accurate, and dependable.
- Flexibility, ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability and initiative, working with minimal supervision and direction.
- Maturity, good judgement and professional personal appearance.
- The ability to ask appropriate questions to gather information along with the ability to feel and show empathy for others.
- The ability to turn people down, firmly, when necessary, without becoming aggressive or unpleasant.
Working Conditions
- Indoors in a climate-controlled setting, outdoors at the shelter, or on location for events.
- Regular exposure to a variety of animals.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.55 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
