DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Development Coordinator provides critical support for Blue Mountain Humane Society’s fundraising and volunteer efforts. Reporting to the Community Engagement Director, this part-time role manages the volunteer program, assists with fundraising event logistics, and ensures smooth coordination of development initiatives. The Development Coordinator plays a vital role in engaging the community, cultivating relationships, and advancing the mission of BMHS.
Responsibilities
- Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, onboard, and manage volunteers for BMHS programs and events.
- Maintain volunteer records and scheduling using the volunteer database.
- Plan and execute volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives.
- Event Coordination:
- Assist the Development Manager in planning and executing fundraising events, focusing on logistics and volunteer coordination.
- Collaborate with the events logistics committee to ensure successful event implementation.
- Donor Engagement:
- Support donor stewardship efforts, including thank-you correspondence and event follow-ups.
- Assist in preparing donor communication materials in collaboration with the Development Manager.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records in donor and volunteer databases.
- Prepare reports and assist with tracking progress toward fundraising goals.
- Community Representation:
- Represent BMHS at community events and assist in promoting the organization’s mission and activities.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in event coordination or volunteer management.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in database management and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
- Indoors in a climate-controlled setting, outdoors at the shelter, or on location for activities and events.
- Schedule is typically Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Regular exposure to a variety of animals
