The Event Catering - Sales Consultant plays a vital role in driving Blue Plate Catering’s growth by achieving individual sales targets, fostering client relationships, and ensuring seamless event execution. As a brand ambassador, the Sales Consultant will embody Blue Plate’s mission to “care more” through exceptional food and service experiences. This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to client acquisition, retention, and event management while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver memorable experiences that align with Blue Plate’s values and objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Grow sales by ensuring inquires and leads are responded to in an enthusiastic and timely manner, new business is sought out through networking and prospecting, prospects are converted to clients, and clients expectations are met through effective communication, event planning, and service.
- Engage with VP of Sales to align individual sales strategies with organizational goals.
- Develop a holistic understanding of the Blue Plate Vision.
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve and exceed monthly and annual individual sales goals.
- Foster a culture of client loyalty, ensuring that no client is a one-time client.
- Manage the full event production cycle, including proposal writing, menu development, logistics planning, CaterXpert data management, and ensuring profitability goals are met.
- Partner with Operations and Service teams to guarantee flawless event execution, offering recommendations to enhance processes and create efficiencies.
- Work closely with Culinary teams to develop high-quality, creative, and timely presentations, tastings, and proposals.
- Collaborate with Marketing to create and execute short- and long-term plans that support brand growth and align with client and venue needs.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate final billing and timely collections of accounts receivable.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and organized client files, including proposals and event documentation.
- Monitor and manage individual sales expenses within the assigned budget.
- Utilize event management systems effectively to track sales activities and ensure data accuracy.
- Attend and work Blue Plate functions as needed.
- Maintain an exemplary level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Perform other relevant tasks as required.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality or related industry. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience within the hospitality industry that includes quantifiable success within a sales role.
- Prior experience with reaching sales goals and objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of off-site catering and event operations.
- General interest in food, menu design and creative event development.
- Basic knowledge of financial management disciplines to include but not limited to: gross profitability, budget design and management, financial analysis, and return on investment.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Commission Plan: This role is commission based.
