Position Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, collaborative program manager to be part of a growing team responsible for transforming the way we work at Blue Ridge Bank. The role will challenge the Program Manager to apply past experience in a three-fold manner:
- Lead and manage strategic, enterprise-wide project teams in the planning, execution, and deployment of business, compliance and technology solutions as a member of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO).
- Roll-up your sleeves and be a contributor to the creation of deliverables (i.e. processes, requirements, communications, etc.) produced by the project team.
- Be a Change Leader helping others to adjust to new ways of working in a fast-paced and unique environment creating efficiencies along the way.
The successful candidate will provide oversight molding project management principles and methodologies, monitor and controls risks and impacts to execution and collaborate and influence all levels of the organization to align execution delivery to the strategic plan. This position reports to the Director, Portfolio Management, influences and works directly with the Executive Team and leads, empowers and mentors team members to drive outcomes directly to the bottom line.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with Sponsor, Customer, and cross-functional teams to launch, maintain, and deliver programs and projects. Guides stakeholders through key decisions and communicates and coordinates activities internally and across network of partners.
- Documents and validates the program scope and its key requirements from cross-functional sponsors and stakeholders.
- Establishes and ensures appropriate governance is implemented to successfully support the program/project.
- Defines the overall approach for the program/project plan, the definition of major deliverables, resource needs and budget to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes.
- Manages and updates Project Schedule, Issues/Action Items/Risks, internal and external dependencies, decisions, and other key project artifacts as required by the EPMO.
- Proactively manages critical path and interdependencies.
- Manages the proposal development, financials/budget, resourcing, work plans and stakeholder communication for programs and projects.
- Manages contractors, third parties, vendors, and related SOWs as appropriate.
- Facilitates the ongoing risk assessment and mitigation activities, including identifying risks, crafting mitigation plans, and tracking issues to resolution.
- Identifies and articulates new customer needs to the program/project team.
- Provides program/project level reporting to executive sponsors and relevant stakeholders.
- Leads regular interactions with leadership to inform, alert, and align on a shared vision for the program/project outcome.
- Adheres to and follows appropriate change management and change control processes
- Ensures adherence to ePMO standards and best practices for program/project reporting and documentation.
- Supervisory responsibility - lead teams, which may include other project managers and coordinators, utilizing a matrix management system.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business management or related field OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
- 8 years of demonstrated experience as a project manager with a minimum 3 years in a direct program management capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- 10 years as project manager and 5 years of demonstrated program management experience.
- Financial services and banking experience
- Process management experience
- Change management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to recognize, analyze, provide options and solve a variety of problems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Visio and MS Project
- Proficient in Waterfall or Hybrid project planning and life cycle development phases
- Ability to confidently present to executives and team members at varying levels of the organization in a concise and transparent manner, both in person and remotely
- Ability to train and mentor others to progress and mature the EPMO talent and practices.
Licenses/ Certifications:
- Certified Project Management Certification
- Certified Project Management Professional from PMI (PMP) preferred.
