What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct - EMS Lab Instructor position at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College?
The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking part-time hourly EMS Lab Instructors for our accelerated EMS program. As a part time EMS Lab Instructor, you work with students at the college to provide the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. This position will directly provide psychomotor support and lab direction to the paramedic students. Your ability to work on a day by day basis gives you the flexibility to choose when you want to work and when you don't.Typical duties of EMS Lab Instructor include but aren't limited to:
• High School Diploma required
• Associates Degree or higher preferred
• Paramedic Certification (WV or NREMT) required
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in BLS for Healthcare Providers required
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Industry recognized EMS Instructor certification (NAEMSE or WVDE) preferred
• ITLS, GEMS, PEPP and AMLS Instructor preferred
Experience
• 2 years of related experience in EMS required
• 1-year related experience American Heart Association classes preferred
• Teaching experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while speaking and in writing
• Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience
• Can utilize email and other AV equipment
• Understands how to utilize the AHA resources
• Demonstrated passion about academic field and education in general
- Deliver and evaluate practical paramedic skills on psychomotor and affective abilities in the laboratory classroom setting utilizing live skills and scenarios
- Setup lab equipment and supplies.
- Oversee the breakdown and sanitation of equipment and supplies by students
- Observe, evaluate, and document student performance on the psychomotor skills and affective abilities covered in a particular lesson utilizing a skills checkoff list
- Advise students on how to be successful in class; Provide remedial assistance to students,
- Ensure lab safety and procedures are followed.
- Provide feedback to program director regarding skill acquisition and mastery,
- Attend scheduled faculty meetings
- Engage in professional development by participating in synchronous and asynchronous training and workshops
- Stay updated on innovations and changes within the field
