What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty Tutor position at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College?
The tutor will work with students developing reading, writing, research, and study skills that promote college success and will be responsive to students' individual needs, accepting student appointments using an online scheduling tool from the second week of the semester until the last week of the semester (14 weeks total). To tutor students across disciplines in general academic areas including, but not limited to reading, writing, research, study skills, and college success.
To efficiently manage the online scheduling tool with feature settings that align with departmental expectations for the tutor's availability
To accept students' appointments for virtual and/or in-person sessions with flexible hours, agreed upon with employer, between Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; preference for availability during evening, 4-7 p.m.
• Weekly availability: Day, hours, location
• Maximum one-hour appointments per week
To find and distribute helpful resources to students as needed
To report student appointments following the sessions so the department may track usage and trends. Education

- Bachelor of Arts degree (include unofficial transcript)
- TESOL Certification preferred
- Tutoring, teaching, or customer service experience preferred
- ELL instruction experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent people skills, communicating, listening, and speaking
- Strong writing and reading skills
- Study skills and general knowledge of several academic areas at the Bachelor’s Level
- Organization and time-management skills
