ASL Teaching Assistant

The ASL Teaching Assistant assists the full-time ASL Instructor with activities and instruction

in the classroomÂ

• Prepares instructional materials
• Provides instructional assistance in ASL
• Instructs students under the direction of the full-time ASL Instructor
• Assists students with the practice of ASL
• Assists with the correction of assignments
• Provides support to students in the understanding and communication of the ASL Language
• Maintain mastery and currency in the fields of American Sign Language and related fields
• Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC
• Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies
• Perform other duties as assigned by the full-time ASL Instructor and the supervisor.
  
  

Education

• Proficient in the use of American Sign Language (ASL and English on a continuing basis.
• Preferred: Completion of a certificate in American Sign Language
  
  

Skills And The Know-How

Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective communication skills, and a

commitment to safety. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar

products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications

associated with the position.Â

Physical DemandsÂ

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
