The Purpose
Sustain high quality teaching performance in English including appropriate course loads. This load may include seated, hybrid, and online classes with day and evening course assignments at various campuses. Perform record keeping function in the areas of course syllabi, attendance, and student performance in an accurate and timely manner. Advise students in AA and AS degree programs.

What You'll be Doing
- Teach a suitable course load as determined by BRCC policies in Developmental and Curriculum level English Composition and Literature courses.
- Utilize varied instructional methods that assist learning for a diverse student body which includes high school students enrolled in college courses.
- Maintain mastery and currency in the English field.
- Market, recruit, and retain students in all college transfer programs.
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
- Actively participate in assigned committee and campus support functions.
- Participate in program planning and support of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
- Maintain working relationships with all college employees while at the same time demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
- Participate in professional development yearly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Must have Master’s Degree in English or a master’s degree in a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in English, a minimum of two years teaching experience (college level preferred) and the proven ability to work in an environment in which change is a highly valued cultural characteristic. A strong background in early American literature and in professional and technical writing is preferred.
Experience
All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment
Knowledge and Skills
Current knowledge in the field. Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, Content Management Systems (CMS), College email and website, web-based computer applications associated with the position.

Physical Demands
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
