The Purpose
To meet the needs of the campus community the Facilities Technician will provide in-house light maintenance and facilities service.
This position is second-shift working 2:00 pm to 11 pm Monday-Friday.

Examples of Duties
- What You'll be Doing
- Assist in event setups (set up and take down) including wiping down chairs and tables before event. As assign work events during the day, night, weekends, and holiday schedules.
- Must be able to work any shift including weekends & Holidays.
- Service requests for faculty, staff, students and guests of moving supplies, and assist with the relocation of offices or programs on Henderson and Transylvania campuses.
- Responsible for Outside Trash and recycle program on the Henderson County Campus.
- Through the direction of Plant Operations supervisor assist with the controls of the HVAC system in all buildings, to include belt, and filter replacement.
- Help with loading and unloading and or deliveries for both Henderson, HSC, and Transylvania county Campuses.
- Applying skills to repair of buildings, grounds in all include snow, spills, emergency response as assigned.
- Maintaining assigned equipment in proper working order.
- Maintaining a proper inventory of equipment, supplies, and other necessary items required to perform duties assigned.
- Performing minor repairs to the facilities plumbing, changing of light bulbs, repairs of doors, windows, carpet repair, roof repair, carpentry, painting, pressure wash buildings, fixing furniture, serve as backup for Parking lot upkeep, and landscaping.
- Unlocking, and locking doors at the beginning or ending of shifts.
- Inspection of First Aid Boxes, eye wash stations and fire extinguishers, and provides this information to Plat Operation Supervisor.
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies. * Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Work in concert with Business Office to annually scan and inventory capital assets for year-end closing.
- Vacuums, shampoos and spot clean carpets and furniture, cleans and maintains hard-surface flooring and washes windows in assigned areas not covered by third party vendor.
- Performs routine and comprehensive maintenance of assigned facilities areas not covered by third party vendor.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms and kitchen areas and stocks facilities with paper and supplies in assigned areas not covered by third party vendor.
- Respond and assign necessary resources to address emergency calls during the evening and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
Education
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
Experience
Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function. All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting.

Physical Demands
Physical Demands: The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. Work outdoors in inclement weather, must be capable of doing physical labor.
