FLSA - Non Exempt - Hourly, 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week
Reports To: Principal
Qualifications:
- Fingerprint Clearance Card
- CPR Card
- High School Diploma
- Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills.
- The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and fostering movement and healthy living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that promote motor skills, teamwork, and overall fitness.
- Teach fundamental movement skills, cooperative games, sportsmanship, and lifelong fitness habits.
- Adapt activities to accommodate various skill levels and abilities.
- Integrate health and wellness education into lessons, personal safety, and the benefits of exercise.
Student Engagement:
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Establish clear expectations and routines to encourage participation and respect.
- Monitor student behavior and provide guidance on teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.
- Address and document any safety concerns or injuries in accordance with school policies.
Collaboration:
- Participate in staff professional development
- Stay up to date on best practices in physical education and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Facility & Equipment Management:
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of PE equipment and materials.
- Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to administration.
- Assist in coordinating school-wide physical activities, including field days and intramural sports.
Work Environment:
- Requires active movement, including standing, running, lifting, and demonstrating physical activities.
- Indoor and outdoor work environments based on weather and activity needs.
