PURPOSE OF POSITION
Peak Period Service Specialists are the faces of Blue Ridge Energy to many of our members and customers. They assist members and customers by handling routine account payment transactions and giving a warm welcome to everyone who comes into our district offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Description of Work
Physical
Greets the public in person or via telephone, responds to questions and requests and refers complex issues to the appropriate person, gives directions, and takes messages where appropriate.

Works as a cashier receiving member / customer payments, balances cash drawer daily. Balances and posts daily receipts for accounts receivable and prepares daily bank deposits; prepares adjustment entries for accounts.

Processes and maintains changes in customer and member names, addresses, account status or meter locations from work orders; makes manual corrections in master listings and codes changes for computer; checks change listing for accuracy prior to file update; makes necessary corrections; checks updated master listings against manual entries.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / PREFFERED SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience in customer service
- Basic clerical and processing skills
- Effective interpersonal / customer service skills
- Strong reading, writing and mathematical skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and coworkers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual language skills a plus
- Previous cash handling experience
- Computer / Technology Skills
OTHER INFORMATION
The individual should have a valid US driver's license, good driving record, and pass a pre-employment screening that includes a background check and drug screen. Candidates who live within 30 minutes of the district location preferred.
