SUMMARY: The Director of Finance position is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting the financial position of Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, Inc. in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
· Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the Finance Committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
· Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
· Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
· Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
· Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
· Develop and implement home sales process to include house pricing, inclusion of primary/subordinate mortgages, preparation of closing documentation, and servicing of mortgages.
· Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
· Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
· Further develop human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training and recruiting.
· Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· At least 5 years of overall professional experience in financial management.
· A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organziation and problem solving skills which support sound decision making.
· Experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area.
· Ability to translate financial concepts and effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues.
· Experience with grant management.
· Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
· A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
· Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the Habitat for Humanity mission.
Physical Demands:
Required to lift up to 10 pounds and will experience bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion during certain affiliate events and activities. Much work of this position is at a desk, working on the computer.
Education:
Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Certified QLO (within 90 days)
