POSITION SUMMARY
The Thrift Shop Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the thrift shop while meeting budget guidelines. The manager is responsible for the hiring, training and the scheduling of staff. They must ensure exceptional customer service to our customers and oversee that staff are doing the same.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Positively promotes the overall thrift shop to shoppers, donors and vendors.
2. Becomes involved in community groups & events to promote shop and BRH.
3. Informs customers of all specials and promotional items.
4. Must provide excellent customer service.
5. Hold quarterly staff meetings and provide minutes.
6. Inform staff of monthly profit / loss once financials are received.
7. Assists associates and assistant manager with resolving customer complaints.
8. Ensures that the sorting room is always kept safe and organized.
9. Disposes of items timely that are not appropriate for resale and trains staff in this process.
10. Greets all donors and thanks them for their donations.
11. Works with volunteers & community service to ensure that they are treating all donors appropriately.
12. Greets all customers with a friendly and polite demeanor when entering the store and ensures staff greet and thank each customer when entering and leaving the shop.
13. Assist customers when needed.
14. Ensures customer receives proper change when paying cash and receive a receipt.
15. Completes store closing paperwork accurately.
16. Counts cash and checks to ensure accuracy.
17. Reconciles credit card receipts with batch total from credit card machine.
18. Checks paperwork for discrepancies prior to turning into the business office.
19. Helps associates resolve any issues they encounter doing paperwork.
20. Counts cash register to verify $100 cash from prior night.
21. Performs regular cleaning for the store, daily, weekly and monthly.
22. Evaluates items on the sales floor to ensure they are still appropriate for sale.
23. Reviews all donations for appropriateness for sales floor.
24. Prices merchandise appropriately in accordance with pricing lists.
25. Displays merchandise in an appealing manner.
26. Orient volunteers to the store and its operations.
27. Explain policy and procedures to the volunteers to ensure they are well informed of store rules.
28. Works with volunteers to maintain the stores proper image.
29. Provide feedback to volunteers.
30. Review store needs to determine supply needs daily.
31. Order supply needs timely to ensure all items needed are stocked.
32. Answers telephone with polite and friendly attitude and identifies self.
33. Ensures silent auction is full, and customers are called appropriately when an item is won.
34. Prepares a monthly schedule for all staff to ensure the store has proper coverage.
35. Address any concerns the staff has in a timely manner.
36. Complete staff evaluations in a timely manner.
37. Address any staff issues with Director of Thrift Operations
38. Asks Director of Thrift Shops for help when needed.
39. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order. Must be willing to travel the entire service area.
40. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or GED required, with 3 years management experience.
2. Computer literacy preferred / willingness to learn required.
3. Retail experience and customer service preferred.
