Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienist to provide quality dental care to our patients. Your role will involve assisting with various procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a clean and organized dental office environment.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including passing instruments and materials
- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Perform basic laboratory duties, such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and sterilizing instruments
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including suctioning and retracting
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and document treatment plans in electronic medical records systems (such as Epic)
- Follow strict infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience
- Current certification in dental radiography (x-ray) preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Proficient in medical documentation and electronic medical records systems (such as Epic)
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
