Employee Benefits Account Manager Job Summary:
The Employee Benefits Account Manager is responsible for managing an assigned book of business while developing long-term relationships with clients. This position will also be responsible to respond to client inquiries, data processing, and identify new business opportunities among existing clients. The Employee Benefit Account Manager performs the essential functions of the position noted below, while meeting the quality and service standards developed by the agency.
Qualifications for the Employee Benefits Account Manager:
- Life & Health Agents License is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years employee benefits and/or personal insurance experience required.
- Experience with large complex accounts including international, contractor and manufacturing entities.
- Thorough knowledge of the ACA and compliance regulations.
- Knowledge of insurance products, markets, and underwriting procedures.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office and agency management software.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others, to explain insurance issues, to receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills, including motivation goal setting, and project management.
- Ability to work collaboratively across the organization to deliver on the agency commitments to our clients.
- High School diploma preferred.
Essential Functions for the Employee Benefits Account Manager:
- Manages assigned book of business and client transactional needs including sales, marketing, and service according to agency standards and procedures.
- Provides technical support to Producers specifically in analyzing client needs, coverage forms, and quotations.
- Interacts with clients (in person, via telephone, or email) to discuss service needs, billing, and coverage questions.
- Works with Client Relationship Manager regarding negotiations with carrier underwriters to ensure proper coverage and pricing that meets the client's needs.
- Accompanies Producers as needed on prospect and or client meetings.
- Processes renewals in coordination with Producers including managing the renewal process for timely receipt of quotations and delivery of renewal proposals and policies.
- Develops renewal application and supporting documents for accounts identified for renewal marketing.
- Creates open enrollment materials.
- Processes all account transactions as needed assuring that all items are handled in timely manner, are accurate, and reflect the established agency procedures. This includes, but not limited to policy issuance and endorsements, certificates and ID cards, proposals, schedules, and summaries of insurance, enrollment, changes, and termination of client employees, audits and facilitating corrections as needed, client/carrier correspondence, and coverage analysis and recommendations.
- Manages cancellation process according to agency standards, addressing both carrier and client requests as received and advising the Producer.
- Assist clients in submitting claims or appeals. Identifies exposure to loss and recommends appropriate coverages in coordination with Producer.
- Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
- Stays up to date with industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
- Complies with departmental reporting requirements.
