What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Intervention Specialist position at Blue Sea Educational Consulting, Inc.?
We have an immediate need for a Behavior Specialist with experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), curriculum development, data collection and ongoing progress monitoring.
Positions are available providing Behavior Intervention Services (BIS) to students (K-12) throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties in home and school settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist students in acquiring academic and/or life skills
- Development and implementation of interventions that teach new skills and/or reduce interfering behaviors
- Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention, with modification made as necessary to maintain and/or increase both the effectiveness and the efficiency of the intervention
- Utilize evidence-based, safe & appropriate handling, guiding and prompting procedures
- Collaborate with all treatment team members including outside professionals, and other stakeholders
- Establish the schedule and/or hours of work in compliance with a student’s individualized education plan
- Develop and submit quarterly and annual progress reports as per the timeline set forth per Local Educational Agency (LEA)
- Maintain student confidentiality and dignity
- Ensure that all student data is filed/stored properly
- Attend relevant meetings
To qualify you must:
- Have a Master's Degree in Social Work/Education/related field
- At least 1 year prior experience in BIS
- Experience working with students with ASD
