What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Executive - National Accounts position at Blue Shield of CA?
Your Role
The National Accounts team is responsible for sales growth within the 3,000 employer market segment. The Sales Executive - National Accounts will report to the Area Vice President of Sales. In this role you will help Blue Shield of California continue our explosive growth in this critically important market.
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a bachelors degree or equivalent experience; Requires an active health and life license with the state of CA
- Requires at least 10 years prior relevant experience
- Requires a deep consultant relationship in Northern California with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with influential people in national consulting firms and experience in the large group / jumbo market
- Requires expert technical understanding of the health care industry including ASO, PPO, POS, HMO, CDHP, managed indemnity and various alternate funding arrangements; contract and underwriting / rating knowledge
- Strong familiarity with the competition, market environments, healthcare economics, medical practices, and provider / alternative delivery systems
- Familiarity with value-based payment models, pay for performance and the evolving health care delivery system
- Financial knowledge of managed care and contract negotiations
- Strong business instincts combined with planning and marketing skills are essential, balanced with the highest ethical standards that naturally convey the importance of personal integrity
- Possess a keen understanding of local market dynamics, as well as regional and national trends
- Demonstrate clear, effective sales strategies for selling health, dental, vision, life, and disability
