What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerical Support, Entry position at Blue Shield of California?
Your Role
The Clerical team supports multiple lines of business throughout the company. The Clerical Support representative will report to the Supervisor. In this role you will prepare and send outgoing mailings and packages, respond to emails and activate cases. This is a hybrid role and in office work is required on a rotating basis with other members of the Clerical Team. The Clerical Team is essential in the success of the day-to-day business for Blue Shield of California.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Batch, track, compile and distribute mail, proofread, and assemble documents in addition to general office support such as faxing, filing, and copying
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail
- Maintaining filing systems
- Photocopy, scan, and fax
- Prepare and send outgoing mailings and packages
- Use various software and systems to accomplish work
- Enter claims into system as needed
- Work in office on a rotating schedule or as needed
- Activate Cases as needed
- Perform research and submit questions when unsure to request clarification
- Work independently and as a team to meet/exceed performance goals and to contribute to the success of the team
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of prior relevant experience
- Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, detailed research skills and excellent quality
- Proficient keyboard skills

Two Ways of Working:
Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above). Exceptions:
Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.
Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.
Physical Requirements:
Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
