Your RoleThe National Accounts team is responsible for sales growth within the 3,000 employer market segment. The Sales Executive - National Accounts will report to the Area Vice President of Sales. In this role you will help Blue Shield of California continue our explosive growth in this critically important market.Your WorkIn this role, you will : Responsible for selling large group health plans to the largest commercial and public sector employers in the state (generally over 3,000 employees)Serve as a strong advocate and voice of Blue Shield in the marketplace; develop deep relationships with targeted consultants and producers in the market which ensure that Blue Shield is considered a must bid on all new business RFPsPartners closely with marketing to drive differentiated, effective events building the Blue Shield brand and driving awareness of differentiated capabilitiesDevelops and drives BSC's large group sales strategy, working with internal company functions to identify opportunities and coordinate proposalsHelps to continually refine the National Accounts sales plan, prioritizing needs, and initiatives for organizational executionTeams with internal stakeholders and Blue Shield business partners to drive go-to-market strategy and growth, and to ensure customer satisfaction via seamless transitionsContributes thinking and market insights to corporate direction, helping to refine product offerings and the Blue Shield value propositionEstablish a reputation as the most knowledgeable, effective healthcare sales executive whose expertise is unparalleled in the marketplaceFacilitates weekly sales team meetings focused on RFP pipeline management, target prospects and producer firm activitiesCollaborates with all members of the sales team, including sharing information within the team, providing market insight or feedback as appropriate and supporting the team in achieving new saleYour Knowledge and ExperienceRequires a bachelors degree or equivalent experience; Requires an active health and life license with the state of CARequires at least 10 years prior relevant experienceRequires a deep consultant relationship in Northern California with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with influential people in national consulting firms and experience in the large group / jumbo marketRequires expert technical understanding of the health care industry including ASO, PPO, POS, HMO, CDHP, managed indemnity and various alternate funding arrangements; contract and underwriting / rating knowledgeStrong familiarity with the competition, market environments, healthcare economics, medical practices, and provider / alternative delivery systemsFamiliarity with value-based payment models, pay for performance and the evolving health care delivery systemFinancial knowledge of managed care and contract negotiationsStrong business instincts combined with planning and marketing skills are essential, balanced with the highest ethical standards that naturally convey the importance of personal integrityPossess a keen understanding of local market dynamics, as well as regional and national trendsDemonstrate clear, effective sales strategies for selling health, dental, vision, life, and disability#LI-BS2
