Seeking a Frozen Foods Buyer to join an established and growing nationwide food company. This role will involve managing relationships with frozen food suppliers, negotiating prices, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and making strategic purchasing decisions based on market trends and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with frozen food suppliers to ensure consistent product availability and competitive pricing.
- Source a wide range of frozen food products, considering seasonal availability, customer preferences, and market trends.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers while ensuring the best value and maintaining product quality.
- Monitor frozen food inventory to ensure stock levels align with demand, adjusting orders to prevent stockouts or overstock.
- Inspect frozen food products to ensure they meet quality standards, packaging requirements, and food safety regulations.
- Stay informed on trends in the frozen food market, including pricing changes and seasonal shifts, to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with logistics, marketing, and sales teams to align purchasing with sales forecasts, promotional strategies, and demand projections.
- Resolve supply chain challenges, such as delivery delays or product defects, quickly and effectively.
- Ensure that all procurement activities comply with food safety regulations, proper handling, and storage protocols for frozen goods.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in frozen food buying, procurement, or a similar field.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of frozen food quality standards, packaging regulations, and market dynamics.
- Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and inventory reports to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Flexibility to adjust purchasing strategies based on changes in market conditions and customer demands.
- A degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
