Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant General Manager / Director of Operations to join our leadership team at Twelve Midtown Marriott Autograph Collection. This role combines the responsibilities of both Assistant General Manager and Director of Operations, focusing on the overall operations and guest experience while driving performance in all hotel departments. The ideal candidate will work closely with the General Manager to oversee the operations, ensuring the highest levels of service, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Hotel Operations : Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of service and operational excellence across all departments, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and sales.
  • Guest Satisfaction : Lead by example in providing exceptional guest service, resolving guest issues promptly, and ensuring all hotel operations support a superior guest experience.
  • Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor hotel staff, fostering a positive work environment, ensuring all team members are trained and developed to their highest potential. Promote a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Management : Assist in the development and management of budgets, forecasts, and financial controls to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards. Ensure labor and operational expenses are kept within forecasted parameters.
  • Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance : Ensure all Marriott brand standards are met, as well as compliance with local regulations. Oversee the hotel's performance in quality assurance (QA) audits, maintaining Triple AAA 4 Diamond rating, and ensuring passing SALT and guest satisfaction scores.
  • Revenue & Sales Strategies : Collaborate with the sales team to drive occupancy and revenue growth through effective marketing strategies, up-selling programs, and strong customer relationships.
  • Safety & Maintenance : Oversee safety certifications, emergency procedures, and ensure preventive maintenance programs are consistently implemented and documented for guest and staff safety.
  • Communication & Follow-Up : Foster strong internal and external communication. Ensure proper follow-up on guest feedback, operational issues, and internal communications. Act as the point of contact for problem resolution when necessary.
  • Leadership and Development : Recruit, train, and continuously develop hotel management teams. Ensure all department heads are aligned with the hotel's strategic objectives and maintain high levels of performance.
  • Compliance : Ensure all state and local laws are adhered to, including equal employment opportunity, wage, and labor regulations. Oversee and implement all operational and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

  • Education & Experience : Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in hotel management, with at least 3 years of experience in the Marriott brand.
  • Operational Expertise : Proven track record of driving guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and financial success in a luxury hotel setting.
  • Leadership Skills : Strong leadership and management capabilities with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team of hospitality professionals.
  • Financial Acumen : Solid understanding of hotel financials, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management principles. Proficiency in hotel management systems and software, including PMS, Opera, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Guest Satisfaction Focus : A track record of improving guest satisfaction scores and ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service.
  • Flexibility & Availability : Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Additional Skills : Ability to handle cash and credit transactions, manage labor resources, oversee up-sell programs, and handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Able to handle stress and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
