    Position Summary:
    A professional who assumes responsibility for the direction, coordination, and supervision of the 504-evaluation process in assigned buildings. Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations and school district policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
    • This job reports to Assistant Superintendent of Special Services.
    • This position is a Full Time, benefits eligible position.
    • The starting salary for this position is $43,500 - $93,500.
    • Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
    • Staff in their first or second year of total service as a teacher are eligible to participate in a new teacher induction stipend of $1,250 for 50 hours of approved training outside of the school day.
    • Fully certified staff with more than two years of experience teaching in a Missouri Public School may be eligible to participate in the Career Ladder Program and may earn $1,500-$5,000 for approved work outside the school day.
    Essential Functions:
    • Coordinates with a variety of personnel for the purpose of delivering compliance of 504 plans with established guidelines.
    • Collaborates with building and district personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining 504 plans and 504 evaluations.
    • Maintains contact with students and parents.
    • Monitors effectiveness of 504 plan accommodations.
    • Monitors student progress in general education courses.
    • Coordinates the 504-evaluation process in assigned schools.
    • Obtains written notice and consent for evaluations.
    • Coordinates identifying assessments and completion of assessments by staff.
    • Writes a 504-evaluation report including all required components, evaluation results and eligibility determination.
    • Notifies parents of the 504 eligibility meetings early enough to ensure an opportunity to participate.
    • Conducts 504 eligibility meetings for initial evaluations.
    • Conducts 504 reevaluation meetings.
    • Conducts 504 plan annual review meetings.
    • Conducts and documents a 504 Manifestation Determination.
    • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
    • Prepares a wide variety of written materials and reports for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
    • Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g., 504 trainings, workshops, 504 meetings, parent conferences, committees, etc.) for the purpose of gathering and/or sharing information related to student needs or program improvement.
    • Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose of implementation of 504 plans and evaluations to staff.
    • Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose of communicating information and/or gaining feedback.
    • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g., teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
    • Serve as Local Education Agency Representative (LEA) for Eligibility meetings at the discretion of building administrator.
    • Meets district, state, federal laws, guidelines, procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    Other Functions:
    • Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    Language Skills:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Other Skills and Abilities:
    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on subject and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents, skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

    Experience: Job related experience preferred.
    Education: Master’s degree in education or related field
