- This job reports to Assistant Superintendent of Special Services.
- This position is a Full Time, benefits eligible position.
- The starting salary for this position is $43,500 - $93,500.
- Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
- Staff in their first or second year of total service as a teacher are eligible to participate in a new teacher induction stipend of $1,250 for 50 hours of approved training outside of the school day.
- Fully certified staff with more than two years of experience teaching in a Missouri Public School may be eligible to participate in the Career Ladder Program and may earn $1,500-$5,000 for approved work outside the school day.
- Coordinates the special education evaluation process in assigned schools.
- Completes the review of existing data leading to a comprehensive evaluation.
- Obtains written notice and consent when it is determined that additional data by conducting a test or administering individual assessment procedures.
- Coordinates identifying assessments and completion of assessment by staff.
- Notifies parents of the eligibility meetings early enough to ensure an opportunity to participate.
- Conducts eligibility meetings for initial evaluations.
- Attends reevaluation meetings at the request of building and/or district administrator.
- Writes an evaluation report including all required components, evaluation results and eligibility determination.
- Meet district, state, federal laws, guidelines, procedures.
- Maintains data on evaluation due dates and notifies case managers of upcoming deadlines.
- Coordinates Independent Educational Evaluations.
- Completes reports as requested by the Special Education Office.
- Attends district and special education training and meetings.
- Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose of special education evaluations to special education and related services staff.
- Serve as Local Education Agency Representative (LEA) for Eligibility meetings at the discretion of building administrator.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Collaborates with a wide variety of district personnel for purpose of special education evaluations.
- Collaborates with parent and student, if applicable, within the evaluation process.

Position Summary:
A professional who assumes the responsibility for the direction, coordination, and supervision of the special education evaluation process in assigned buildings. Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations and school district policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on subject and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents, skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Education/Experience/Certification:
Must hold or be eligible for a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in at least one area of Special Education. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in a special education classroom. Knowledge of special education process requirements. Master’s degree preferred.
